After my HUAWEI laptop is powered off and its lid is closed, the device heats up when it is being charged |
Problem
The user powers off the computer, closes its lid, and charge the device. When the user opens the lid again during charging, they find that the left side of the keyboard and the hinge area heats up.
Cause
- During charging, there is a drop in voltage from a high-voltage adapter to a low-voltage battery, which inevitably causes a loss of power and generates heat.
- When the computer is powered off, the fan does not rotate. As a result, the heat generated during charging can only be dissipated through natural heat dissipation. In addition, closing the lid will reduce the effective area for natural convection around the keyboard, resulting in low heat transfer efficiency and a rise in temperature.
Solution
- Slight heating during charging does not indicate an issue with your device and will not affect your daily use. Besides, your computer comes with temperature control measures. Please rest assured. You can refer to the following tips for better usage experience:
- Keep your computer's lid opened and disconnect it from any external devices before powering it off and charging it. In addition, you can use a heat dissipation bracket to leave a certain space between the bottom of the computer and the desktop, to facilitate heat dissipation.
- You can also charge the device when it is powered on, so that the fan runs automatically to speed up the heat dissipation.
- If the issue affects your normal use of the device, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance. (Tip: Feel free to call the Huawei consumer service hotline for assistance before going to a Huawei Customer Service Center.) We will do our best to address your needs.
Thanks for your feedback.
