How do I set the security Mode of my HUAWEI router
| How do I set the security Mode of my HUAWEI router |
The Wi-Fi security modes of the router include WPA2 PSK, WPA/WPA2 PSK hybrid , WPA2 PSK / WPA3 SAE hybrid (not supported on some routers), and no encryption (None).
- In no encryption (None) mode, your wireless network will not be password protected. This is not a secure option.
- WPA2 PSK is more secure than WPA/WPA2 PSK hybrid. However, only WPA2 certified devices are able to connect to the router normally in this mode, so there may be compatibility issues.
- In WPA/WPA2 PSK hybrid mode, WPA or WPA2 certified devices can connect to routers.
- The WPA2 PSK / WPA3 SAE hybrid is more secure than WPA/WPA2 PSK hybrid. In this mode, WPA2 or WPA3 certified devices can connect to router(not supported on some routers).
- If the uplink router is a HUAWEI router, the feature settings will be consistent with those on the uplink HUAWEI router. To change the settings, modify them on the uplink router.
- If the uplink router is not a HUAWEI router, refer to the following.
Therefore, it is recommended that you set the router's encryption mode to WPA/WPA2 PSK hybrid. The procedure is as follows:
- Connect your computer/phone to the router's Wi-Fi network, or connect the computer to the router's LAN port using an Ethernet cable. In the browser's address bar, enter the default IP address and log in to the router's web-based management page(check the nameplate at the bottom of the router for the default IP address).
- For routers that feature WAN/LAN auto-adaptation ports, you do not need to distinguish between WAN and LAN ports.
- If you are connecting your phone to the router's Wi-Fi network, switch your phone's webpage to the PC-based UI before performing the following operations.
- For certain devices, please refer to How to view the IP address of HUAWEI WiFi Extender AX3000.
- Click My Wi-Fi, select WPA/WPA2 PSK hybrid as the security mode, and click Save (The picture is for your reference only).
