Check the connection status
- Check whether the stylus is paired with your tablet: Enter the Settings screen on your tablet, search for and go to Bluetooth or NearLink, and check whether the stylus is displayed under PAIRED DEVICES.
- Pair again if the stylus is not displayed.
Attachment position: Attach the notch of the stylus to the top edge (where the volume buttons are located) of the tablet; or attach the stylus to the charger, which needs to be attached to the middle area of the stylus. For details, refer to Pair my HUAWEI M-Pencil with a tablet and charge it
If the stylus is attached to a wrong position, the pairing will fail. Move the stylus leftwards or rightwards to find the place with the greatest magnetic force and attach the stylus to that place.
Troubleshoot
- Check for interference factors.
- You are using non-official accessories. Non-official magnetic protective cases and thick tempered glass screen protectors may interfere with the stylus signal. Non-HUAWEI magnetic folios may cause the stylus to be affected by the magnetic field. You are advised to remove such accessories and try again.
- The tablet is connected to another Bluetooth device. This may cause certain functions to be abnormal. For example, when the tablet is connected to a Bluetooth keyboard, FreeScript may become unavailable, as it won't provide the toolbar.
- You are using a thick tempered glass screen protector, which may affect your writing experience. You are advised to remove it and try again.
- Check for software issues.
- Switch between apps: Some third-party apps may not support the stylus. You can try writing in the Notepad app that comes with your tablet. If you can write normally in the Notepad app, it means that the third-party app does not support the stylus.
- Update stylus firmware: Restart your tablet, update the stylus firmware to the latest version by referring to Updating the firmware of my HUAWEI M-Pencil, try writing again.
- Restart the stylus: Refer to Restart HUAWEI M-Pencil (2nd/3rd generation) or Restart the HUAWEI M-Pencil Pro to restart the stylus, attach it to the tablet, and try writing again.
You can determine the model of your stylus by referring to Distinguish HUAWEI M-Pencil series styluses.
- Check for hardware issues.
- Check the stylus tip status: If the stylus tip is loose or damaged, your writing experience may be affected. In this case, secure the stylus tip or replace it with a new one, and try writing again.
