Charging and pairing

The charging and pairing methods vary depending on the device with which the stylus is paired. For details, see PC and tablet models that are compatible with HUAWEI styluses.

Method 1: Magnetic wireless charging and pairing

1. Charging: Attach the stylus notch to the top of the device, to the side of the volume button. Please note that the attachment position varies for each device. Once successfully attached, the stylus's charging status will be displayed on the screen, as shown in the following figure.

2. Pairing: Once the stylus has been successfully attached to the device, a pairing dialog box will be displayed. Touch Connect to pair the devices.

This pairing method is applicable to models such as HUAWEI MatePad Pro 10.8 and HUAWEI MatePad Paper.

This pairing method is applicable to models such as HUAWEI MatePad Pro 12.6 and HUAWEI MatePad 11.

Method 2: Charging and pairing using the charger

1. Charging: Attach the stylus notch to the charger. Once successfully attached, the stylus's charging status will be displayed on the screen, as shown in the following figure.

2. Pairing: Once the stylus has been successfully attached to the device, a pairing dialog box will be displayed. Touch Connect to pair the devices.

This pairing method is applicable to models such as HUAWEI MatePad 10.4 and HUAWEI MatePad 10.8.

 
  • Stylus charger indicator colors:

Blinking green: charging

Steady green: fully charged

Blinking red: not charging

  • If your tablet's battery level exceeds 20%, the stylus attached to the device will be charged regardless of whether the screen is on or off.
  • HUAWEI M-Pencil (1st/2nd generation) can fully charge within 1 hour, and can then be used continuously for 10 hours.

Viewing the battery level

When the stylus is paired with the device, you can check the stylus's battery level in the following ways:

Method 1:

On your tablet & 2-in-1 devices: Remove the stylus and reattach it. Check the battery level in the prompt.

Method 2:

1. On your phone: Go to Settings > Accessibility features > Stylus. The battery level and charging status of the stylus will be displayed on the screen.

2. On your tablet: Go to Settings > Accessibility features > Stylus. The battery level and charging status of the stylus will be displayed on the screen.

3. On your 2-in-1 device: Touch the HUAWEI stylus icon in the notification area of the taskbar. You will then be able to view the battery level and charging status of the stylus.
