Using Bluetooth on the computer (connecting to a Bluetooth device, sending and receiving files via Bluetooth, or changing the Bluetooth name)

This operation only applies to laptops and desktop computers that support the Bluetooth function.

Connecting to a Bluetooth device

  1. Press Win+I to open the Settings screen and then select Bluetooth & devices.

  2. Enable Bluetooth, click Add device, select a Bluetooth device from the list of available Bluetooth devices, such as a phone or a Bluetooth mouse, and when prompted, confirm the pairing on both your computer and the Bluetooth device.

    • Make sure that your device is powered on and discoverable.
    • If the Bluetooth device that you want to connect to is not listed in the search results, disable and then re-enable Bluetooth and search again.

Sending and receiving files via Bluetooth

  1. After the Bluetooth connection is set up, click the hidden app icon on the taskbar and then the Bluetooth icon.

  2. Click Send a File and follow the onscreen instructions to select the device you want to send a file to and the file to be sent. The file will then be sent out after confirmation is received from the receiving device.
  3. Click Receive a File. After a file is selected and sent to your computer, your computer will then automatically receive the file.

    • To send a file from a Bluetooth device (such as a mobile phone) to a computer, you will need to click the Bluetooth icon on the taskbar, click Receive a File, and select the file to be sent from the Bluetooth device. Otherwise, the computer may fail to receive files.
    • The received files are saved in "C:\Users\User name\Document" by default. (The user name is your account name.) If you want to change the save path, click Browse next to the current save location after you receive the file, change the save path, and click Finish.

Changing the computer's Bluetooth name

Make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on your computer before you change it.

  1. Click the search icon on the taskbar, enter "Device Manager" in the search box, and open Device Manager.
  2. Expand Bluetooth, right-click a Bluetooth driver name, such as Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R), and click Properties.

    • If you are using a computer based on an AMD platform, the Bluetooth driver is "Realtek Bluetooth Adapter".
    • The Bluetooth driver of the HUAWEI MateBook E 2019 is "Bluetooth Device(Personal Area Network)".

  3. In the displayed Properties window, go to Advanced > Name, change the Bluetooth name, and click OK.
