Some devices wirelessly connected to the router cannot access the Internet

If the router's indicator is steady green, it is connected to the Internet. If your phone, computer, or any other device would not connect to the Internet through Wi-Fi, perform the following to troubleshoot:

1. Check whether your device is connected to the router's Wi-Fi network

If your device would not connect to the router's Wi-Fi network, it may have been added to the Wi-Fi blocklist.

2. Check whether your device is on the blocklist or trustlist of your router

Your router uses Wi-Fi blocklist and trustlist to control Internet access. If your device has been blocklisted by the administrator, you will not be able to access the Internet. If there is a trustlist enabled on your router, but your device is not on the trustlist, you won't be able to access the Internet. Only trustlisted devices can access the Internet.

  • Method 1: using the HUAWEI AI Life App on a phone
  1. Connect your phone to the router's Wi-Fi network and open the HUAWEI AI Life App.
  2. On the home screen of HUAWEI AI Life App, touch the router concerned to access the router management screen.
  3. Touch Connected devices. On the displayed screen, check whether your device is on the Blocked list. If yes, touch the device, touch ALLOW and, when prompted, touch OK.

  • Method 2: using the web-based management page on a computer
  1. Connect a computer with Internet access to your router's Wi-Fi network. You can also connect the computer to your router's LAN port using a network cable. From the browser address bar on the computer, visit 192.168.3.1 and log in to the router's web-based management page.
  2. Access the Manage Device page. Check whether your device that is unable to access the Internet is on the Internet Access Banned for Wireless Terminals list. If yes, your device has been blocklisted. Enable Internet Access for your device, and try again.

You can also go to More Functions > Wi-Fi Settings > Wi-Fi Access Control, and check whether the device is on the Device List of the blocklist. If yes, click the icon at the right side of the device to remove the device from the blocklist.

  3. Go to More Functions > Wi-Fi Settings > Wi-Fi Access Control, and check whether the device is on the Device List of the trustlist. If not, click the icon in the upper right corner of the Device List section. Add the device and try again.

The blocklist and trustlist cannot be enabled at the same time.

3. Check whether parental control is set for your device

Parental control specifies which devices can access the Internet at which times. To check whether parental control is set for your device, use either of the following methods:

  • Method 1: using the HUAWEI AI Life App on a phone
    1. Connect your phone to the router's Wi-Fi network and open the HUAWEI AI Life App .
    2. On the home screen of HUAWEI AI Life App, touch the router concerned to access the router management screen.
    3. Go to Show more > Parental Controls to check whether a parental control rule is set for your device. If yes, disable or delete the rule (swipe left and touch the delete button). Then check whether the device can access the Internet.

  2. Go to More Functions> Security Settings > Parental Control , and check whether your device that is unable to access the Internet is on the Internet Access Time Limit list. If yes, disable or delete the parental control rule and check whether the device can access the Internet.

4.Check whether the IP address of the wireless device is in DHCP mode (automatically obtaining an IP address)

If you have manually set a static IP address for the wireless device and the IP address is not within the LAN IP address range (generally between 192.168.3.2 and 192.168.3.254) of the router, the wireless device cannot access the Internet.

If you have set a static IP address for the wireless device, switch to DHCP mode as follows:

  • For computers: Click the wireless network icon in the lower right corner of the desktop and go to Open Network and Sharing Center > Wireless Network Connection. In the displayed dialog box, click Properties and double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4). In the displayed dialog box, select Obtain an IP address automatically. Then, check whether the problem is resolved.
  • For mobile phones: Connect to the router's Wi-Fi network, go to Settings > WLAN, touch and hold the router's Wi-Fi name, and go to Modify network > Advanced options > IP settings. If the IP address is Static, change it to DHCP. Then try again.

5. Check whether Limit Rate is set for your device

If a wireless device can use instant messaging software but cannot browse web pages after connecting to the Wi-Fi network, the rate of the wireless device may be limited.。

  • Connect a computer with Internet access to your router's Wi-Fi network. You can also connect the computer to your router's LAN port using a network cable. From the browser address bar on the computer, visit 192.168.3.1 and log in to the router's web-based management page.
  • Access the Manage Device page. Check whether Limit Rate is set on the wireless device that cannot access the Internet. If yes, disable Limit Rate and try again.

6. Check whether your device can access the Internet from another Wi-Fi network

If your device still cannot access the Internet when connected to another Wi-Fi network, the device may be malfunctioning. Contact your device manufacturer for assistance.

If your device can access the Internet when connected to another Wi-Fi network, reset your device's network settings or forget the saved Wi-Fi network. Then connect to the Wi-Fi network again.

7.If the issue persists

If none of the above resolves the issue, please call the Huawei customer service hotline or take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
