Wear detection on HUAWEI Eyewear series devices

Update your phone/tablet to EMUI 10.0/HarmonyOS 2.0 or later. After connecting the eyewear to your phone/tablet, your phone/tablet will automatically detect the wearing status of the eyewear and pause and resume audio playback or switch between audio modes for calls. To enable or disable wear detection, perform the following steps:

  • AI Life: Open the app, go to the eyewear details screen, touch Wear detection and switch Wear detection on or off.
  • Bluetooth settings: On your phone/tablet, go to Settings > Bluetooth, touch the icon next to the name of the eyewear, touch More settings and then Wear detection, and enable or disable it.

    Table 1 Wear detection scenarios

    Usage Scenario

    Wear Detection

    Put the eyewear on.

The eyewear will play a sound to alert you that it is being worn correctly.

    Audio playback

    • The audio will play from the phone/tablet when you are not wearing the eyewear.
    • If you remove the eyewear, the audio playback will pause. If you put on the eyewear again within 3 minutes, the audio playback will resume in the foreground or background, with the audio playing from the eyewear.

The audio cannot play if the app is cleared from the background. The audio will remain paused if you put on the eyewear again more than 3 minutes later.

    Video playback

    • The audio will play from the phone/tablet when you are not wearing the eyewear.
    • If you remove the eyewear, the audio will play from your phone/tablet. If you put on the eyewear again, the audio will play from your eyewear when video playback is resumed.

    Calling

    • The audio will play from the phone/tablet when you are not wearing the eyewear.
    • When you remove the eyewear, the call audio will switch to the phone/tablet. When you put on the eyewear again, the call audio still plays from the eyewear.

If you are using an iPhone/iPad or a non-HUAWEI Android phone/tablet: When you remove the eyewear, the audio playback will pause (depending on whether the app supports this feature), and the audio will not automatically switch from the eyewear to the connected device. If you touch the audio playback icon on your device to continue audio playback, the audio will continue to play from the eyewear (regardless of whether you're wearing it). If you want the audio to play from your phone after you remove the eyewear, disconnect your eyewear from your phone.
