- Right-click the Windows icon and select Device Manager.
- Expand the options in Mice and other pointing devices. Right-click the option for an external mouse and select Properties.
For a laptop connected to an external mouse, two HID-compliant mouse items are listed in Mice and other pointing devices, but only the external mouse can be used to wake your computer. To check whether a device is an external mouse, go to Properties > General, and check its Location information. An external mouse will be displayed as on USB Input Device in this field.
- Select Allow this device to wake the computer on the Power Management tab in the displayed HID-compliant mouse Properties window and click OK.
