Running form monitoring

The device is able to monitor your running form in real time, once connected to your phone or watch, and provide wide range of running-related data including stride, cadence, foot strike pattern, and ground contact time. Start a run on your phone or watch.

Starting a run

  1. Wearing the device(s): You can wear a device on your waist or foot, or both.
  2. Before starting your first run, open the Huawei Health app on your phone, go to Me > Profile, and set your Height and Weight, to ensure accurate running form analysis.
  3. Open the Huawei Health app on your phone, touch Exercise, and start an Outdoor run or Indoor run.

    You can also touch Workout from the app list on your watch, and select Outdoor run, Indoor run, or Trail run. After the device icon lights up, touch the start icon to start the workout. (For outdoor workouts, it is recommended that you touch the start icon after GPS positioning is successful.)

 
  • Your phone or watch will check the number of connected devices, as well as the wearing status, when you start running. If there is more than one device in the same position:
    • The Huawei Health app will remind you to select one of the devices to connect to. The selected device will buzz, and its indicator will flash.
    • The watch will only maintain a connection with the most recently-connected device and disconnect from other devices.
  • During the run, the device will monitor your wearing position. If your wearing position is inconsistent with the motion, the Huawei Health app or watch will remind you that the wearing position may be incorrect. (Only one reminder will be provided per run.)

    If you stop running to confirm or adjust the wearing position, you'll need to restart the workout to initiate running form monitoring. If you ignore the reminder and continue running, the device will continue to record data, but the running record saved in the Huawei Health app will be marked.

Ending a run

On your phone:

Open the Huawei Health app, and touch the Stop button .

On your watch:

Press the Up button on your watch, and touch the Stop icon on the Pause screen, or press and hold the Up button.

After completing the workout, leave the device idle to save battery power.

Viewing data

On your phone:

Open the Huawei Health app, and touch Exercise records.

On your watch:

Open the app list, touch Workout records, and touch the workout record you wish to view.

 
  • Running form change curve and average parameter values do not include the data from when you are walking or resting.
  • During the run, if the Bluetooth connection between the watch and the device is cut off for less than 5 minutes, they will automatically reconnect, but the device data during the disconnected period will not be recorded. If your phone is disconnected from the device, they can automatically reconnect at any time. Data will not be recorded during the disconnected period.
