The sound from my HUAWEI earbuds shutters or is intermittent

  • The sound from the earbuds may stutter for 1–2 seconds, when you start playing music, launch a game, enable or disable Spatial audio, reconnect the earbuds to a second device, or share audio with other earbuds.
  • During a call using HUAWEI earbuds, sound may shutter when you run other media services. In this case, it is recommended that you disable the media service temporarily and enable it again after you end the call.
  • When you connect HUAWEI FreeBuds/FreeLace series earbuds to nubia REDMAGIC 6 Pro, the sound may stutter when you play music or watch videos. This is a known compatibility issue with this phone model. Place the earbuds in the charging case and close the case, and then re-connect the earbuds with your phone. This will resolve the issue.

Troubleshoot as follows:

  1. For HUAWEI phones, check whether your earbuds, phone/tablet, and Audio Accessory Manager are updated to their latest versions.
  2. For third-party phones, check whether your earbuds and phone/tablet are updated to their latest versions.
  3. When using the earbuds, avoid obstructing the area around the phone camera to ensure smooth reception of signals.
  4. If you are in a crowded place, such as high-speed railway stations, airports, subways, or shopping malls, or if there are obstacles between the earbuds and the connected device, sound may stutter or be intermittent. In this case, it is recommended that you select Prioritize connection quality.
    1. If you have enabled Spatial audio, disable it.
    2. If you have enabled Prioritize sound quality, disable it.
    3. If you have enabled Dual-connection, Dynamic latency, Audio sharing, and other features, it is recommended that you disable them.

      • Features such as Spatial audio, Prioritize sound quality, Dual-connection, Dynamic latency, and Audio sharing are not applicable to all earbuds. You can visit the corresponding link to view the applicable models.
      • Audio Accessory Manager cannot be updated on some HONOR device models running MagicOS. You need to download and install the AI Life app or update the app to its latest version, and set Sound quality to Prioritize connection quality or Prioritize sound quality by accessing the earbuds card in the AI Life app.
  5. Place the earbuds within the effective range of your device, and use them in an environment with good wireless signals.
    1. When you play a video or make a call in an environment with strong radio signal interference (such as at traffic light intersections, subway stations, high-speed railway stations, airports, and shopping malls, or if there is a microwave oven nearby) or a poor network signal, the sound from the earbuds may be intermittent. This is a normal phenomenon. Avoid environments with strong radio signal interference or poor network signal reception.
    2. Bring your phone and earbuds closer together, and try to avoid any sources of interference.

If you are using WATCH Buds earbuds, adjust how you wear them. Avoid blocking the tail of the earbuds, as this can affect noise cancellation performance and connectivity.

  6. Check whether the earbuds have enough power: If the indicator on the charging case is yellow or green, it means that the earbuds' battery level is sufficient. If the indicator is red, charge the earbuds in a timely manner. If the earbuds cannot be charged, please refer to My earbuds or the charging case cannot be charged or charge slowly.
  7. Certain audio sources or players may be faulty. Try using another audio source or player.
  8. If the issue persists, restart your phone/tablet, and pair the earbuds with the phone/tablet again.

If the issue persists, take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
