Unable to add a remote control by type or brand in Smart Remote for my home appliance
  1. Consul the TV manufacturer to confirm whether the home appliance remote control adopts an infrared remote control mechanism.
    • You can also open Camera on your phone and aim it at the infrared sensor of the home appliance remote control, then press the home appliance remote control key. If the infrared light is visible through the phone camera, the home appliance is in infrared remote control mode.
    • If you are unable to see the infrared light on the camera viewfinder, the home appliance does not support Smart Remote.
  1. Ensure that you have selected the type and brand of the remote control correctly. If the type or brand of the remote control is not available, touch Custom to create one.
  2. Aim the infrared emission hole on top of the phone directly at the home appliance and keep the angle deviation within a range of 0 to 45 degrees. Ensure that the distance between your phone and the home appliance is within 7 meters, and that there are no obstacles between the two devices.
  3. Perform tests as instructed until a matching remote control is found.
  4. Add a remote control in a room without strong light, as a strong light also emits infrared rays, which may interfere with the signal reception on your phone.
  5. Update your phone system and Smart Remote to the latest version.

If the issue still persists, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
