The charging case of my HUAWEI FreeClip/FreeBuds series earbuds heats up or stops charging during wireless charging

Some heat may be generated during wireless charging. This is normal and does not indicate any issue with the charging case. During wireless charging, the charging cradle and the bottom of the charging case coil will heat up. As a result, the charging may be slow, stop, or the indicator on the charging cradle may blink or turn off. When the temperature reaches the overtemperature protection threshold, wireless charging will automatically stop and the indicator on the charging cradle will turn off. This is normal and does not affect the battery lifespan or your normal use of the device.

It is normal for the FreeClip charging case to heat up during wireless charging as it contains metal sheets that conduct heat. The temperature will drop quickly once charging stops. Please stay assured.

If the charging case heats up significantly during charging

  1. Check the charging environment. It is recommended that you charge the earbuds in a well-ventilated environment with a temperature of 20°C–25°C, for example, on a desk indoors. Avoid charging them in a hot, high-humidity environment.
  2. Make sure that you correctly place your earbuds into the charging case, by referring to Charging instructions and precautions for HUAWEI FreeBuds series/FreeClip earbuds.
  3. Connect the charger to a standard adapter and cable for charging. If you are using a non-HUAWEI wireless charger or a non-certified wireless charger, the charging case may fail to charge properly or may even be damaged.

    • If you are using a HUAWEI WATCH Wireless SuperCharger (2nd generation) with model CW05 marked on its back, make sure to use a 40 W or higher adapter to ensure a good charging experience.
    • If you are using FreeBuds Pro 5 or FreeClip 2 earbuds, it is recommended that you use a HUAWEI SuperCharge Wireless Charger (Max 27 W) for an optimal charging experience.
  4. Restore the earbuds to their factory settings and try again.

If the issue persists, take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
