I hear wind noises when I wear my HUAWEI FreeBuds/FreeLace series or WATCH Buds earphones in a windy environment |
When you wear the earphones in windy environments, for example, when you are cycling or exercising outdoors, or in a vehicle with the windows open, the earphones detect that the wind noise exceeds a preset threshold, causing the wind noise canceling algorithm to suppress some of the microphone signals used for noise cancellation. This will negatively affect the performance of Noise canceling or Awareness mode.
In addition, open-fit TWS earphones, such as the FreeBuds 5, FreeBuds 3, and FreeBuds 4, are not designed to form a completely airtight seal in the ear canal. As a result, wind can still enter your ear canals while you are wearing them, resulting in more audible noise compared to in-ear TWS earphones.
If you feel that the whirring sound is affecting normal use, try the following steps:
- Ensure that your earphones are up to date.
- Disable ANC or Awareness mode temporarily.
- ANC and call noise cancellation are separate technologies for reducing the impact of ambient noise. ANC reduces the level of ambient noise heard, whereas call noise cancellation reduces the level of unwanted noise added to the user's voice during calls, which allows the other person to hear the user's voice more clearly.
- FreeBuds 5 does not have Awareness mode.
