Unable to install drivers on my HUAWEI computer, drivers are missing, or unknown devices exist

Problem

After the preinstalled system is used or the system is reinstalled on the HUAWEI computer, certain device administrator drivers report errors, display yellow exclamation marks, are missing, or cannot be installed. Alternatively, PC Manager cannot detect or install drivers.

Cause

  1. After a non-HUAWEI Windows image is reinstalled, the installed system version is too early to meet the driver release version requirements. As a result, the drivers cannot be detected or installed using Huawei PC Manager.
  2. The drivers cannot be installed due to a system error.
  3. After the system is modified to a non-HUAWEI Windows image, the drivers are abnormal due to system compatibility issues.

Solution

  1. Make sure that the computer can access the Internet through a wired network or by using USB tethering with an Android phone. USB tethering: Use a USB cable to connect your Android phone to the computer. On your phone, go to Settings > Mobile network > Personal hotspot > USB tethering. After enabling USB tethering, wait until the network icon in the lower right corner of the computer screen changes to the PC icon and open any website to ensure that you can access the Internet properly.
  2. Open Huawei PC Manager, go to Optimization > Drivers, and click Check for updates. If a driver update is detected, install it and restart your computer.

  3. You can also download the driver by referring to One-click Driver download tool for HUAWEI computers.
    1. If the touchpad/touchscreen driver cannot be installed using the tool, restart the computer and try again.
    2. If the issue persists, update the system to the latest version using the Windows ISO by referring to Updating my HUAWEI computer's Windows system to the latest version.
    3. If the issue remains unresolved, reinstall the system by referring to Using a USB flash drive as installation media for Windows on a Windows 10 computer.
  4. Use Microsoft Installation Assistant to update the system. For details, see method 2 in Updating my HUAWEI computer's Windows system to the latest version.
  5. If the issue persists, and you are using the preinstalled system, back up your data and use F10 to restore factory settings.
  6. If you have modified the system version to a non-preinstalled one using a USB flash drive, back up all data on the drive and refer to the following to recreate an image disk to install the system:

For Windows 10, see Using a USB flash drive as installation media for Windows on a Windows 10 computer.

For Windows 11, see Using a USB flash drive as installation media for Windows on a Windows 11 computer.
