My HUAWEI computer cannot connect to a monitor or projector in wired mode, or the screen is black and has no signal after they are connected in wired mode |
Problem
The computer can't connect to a monitor or projector in wired mode, or the screen is black and has no signal after they are connected in wired mode.
Cause
- The connection was incorrectly set up, or the input source was not switched.
- The cable is too long, or does not work with the devices.
- The monitor is incompatible with the computer.
Solution
- Connect your computer to the display device in a correct manner. When inserting the cable into the ports, select the corresponding signal input source on the settings screen of the display device.
- Check the cable connection.
- It is recommended that you use a cable that is one to five meters long. Once the cable is longer than 10 meters, the signal transmission quality may degrade, resulting in black screen, screen flickering, and unstable images. If necessary, replace the cable with a shorter one and try again.
- Check whether the HDMI/MiniDP/USB-C cable connection is loose. If so, remove and insert the cable in both the monitor and computer.
- You are advised to use the standard USB-C cable or DP-to-MiniDP cable to connect to the USB-C or DP port for display.
- The common HDMI specification of your computer is HDMI 1.4b. Certain models come with HDMI 2.0 ports. You can query the HDMI specification based on your device model. Use a cable that matches the port specification.
- If the device only has HDMI ports, confirm with the HDMI cable supplier whether the HDMI cable has obtained the HDMI certification, or purchase an HDMI 2.0 cable from an official outlet.
- Prefer connecting the monitor to a power source before connecting it to a computer for screen projection.
- Uninstall the graphics card driver and then install the latest integrated graphics card driver. This can be done as follows:
- Press and hold Win+X, and go to Uninstall device. In the displayed dialog box, select Delete the driver software for this device, and click Uninstall.
The integrated graphics card driver varies depending on the processor.
- Intel processor: Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620 or Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics.
- AMD processor: AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics
- Skip this step for HUAWEI MateBook E Go and HUAWEI MateBook E 2019.
. Right-click the integrated graphics card driver as needed, and select - Restart the computer.
- Enter the system again, double-click Huawei PC Manager to open it. Go to to install the graphics card driver. After the driver is installed, restart the computer and try connecting it to the monitor.
- Press and hold Win+X, and go to Uninstall device. In the displayed dialog box, select Delete the driver software for this device, and click Uninstall.
- If a projection issue occurs when using a USB-C cable, use an HDMI cable or use the HDMI/DP port on a docking station to connect your computer to the monitor, and vice versa.
- To change the resolution or refresh rate of the external display device, perform the following steps: Press and hold Win+I to open Windows Settings, and go to . Select the monitor currently connected to the computer, and check the display adapter properties. Go to , and then select the resolution and refresh rate. You can reduce the resolution and refresh rate to 1920 x 1080 and 60 Hz/30 Hz. (If only the internal monitor is available in Advanced display, skip this step.)
