We believe that privacy is a basic right of yours, you should have complete control over your privacy, and that privacy protection is a cornerstone of product design which is just as important as the actual service that the product provides.
We adhere to the four basic principles of privacy protection:
Transparency: The way we process personal data is transparent to you, who can make decisions according to your wishes, and can fully control your privacy.
User benefit: The collection of personal data should benefit you and provide you with a better user experience.

Whether you are watching videos in HUAWEI Video, or using HUAWEI Cloud to manage your files, your personal data will never be sent to or shared with advertisers without your consent or due to legal reasons.
Before accessing your personal information such as photos and contacts, the third-party apps installed on your device are required to obtain your authorization in advance and inform you of the purpose of the access. You can also manage the permissions acquired by each individual app installed on your device at any time. For example, you can prevent an app from accessing and obtaining your contacts, location, and other personal information.
During your use of our products, we will guarantee the security and privacy of your personal information, and encrypt the sensitive personal data whether stored locally on your device or sent to and stored on our cloud servers. In addition, we will provide you with a separate encrypted space that is completely isolated from your general apps so you can store your sensitive personal data for further protection.
We have integrated EMUI (the Intelligent Android OS of HUAWEI) with encryption, anonymization, and other privacy protection measures to securely protect the important information on your device and to provide you with necessary services and personalized experiences in compliance with local data protection laws.
We carefully follow the principle of Privacy by Design (PbD) and use/implement reliable and advanced privacy protection measures to ensure the protection of your privacy and personal data during your use of our products. We commit to fully protecting your data through data anonymization, pseudonymization, and aggregation, and allowing you to agree to or reject data collection by toggling applicable switches on or off.
Huawei Pay is a fast and safe method that enables you to make secure payments for online or in-store purchases.

By creating an index for your photos locally on your device, Gallery facilitates your searches based on the name, time, notes, location, and tags of your photos. It also generates Highlight albums after analyzing and selecting from photos taken during a certain period of time. The entire process is carried out locally and does not involve the uploading or modification of your photos.
Gallery classifies your photos (such as people, landscapes, food, documents, etc.) locally on your device, and syncs the classification information to HUAWEI Cloud. The data is encrypted during the process to guarantee data security.
You can also select an album, photo, or video in Gallery to easily share it with a third-party app. Which apps you choose to share your photos and videos with is completely up to you.
All apps available in AppGallery must undergo four layers of security tests in order to ensure that they do not compromise the security of your personal information. You can see the results of the security tests for each app in the app details screen. We require app developers to comply with user privacy protection and security auditing provisions. If we find that an app violates the relevant requirements, we will ask the app developer to address the issue immediately. Otherwise, the app will be removed from HUAWEI AppGallery.
When an app you have installed through AppGallery attempts to access your personal information such as your location or contacts for the first time, you will be prompted to grant the relevant permissions. Access permissions will only be granted with your consent. You can also revoke the relevant permissions at any time.
In addition, we ensure that apps on AppGallery cannot gain full access to all your data and are prohibited from accessing certain special data types on your device. To help you manage your privacy, we have provided you with a variety of tools and features. You can protect your device, as well as have control over your personal data and location shared with other devices or apps.
You can enhance the security of your device with a lock screen password. The lock screen password is stored and well protected on your device using an irreversible algorithm, as well as a unique device hardware key. The creation and verification of lock screen passwords are performed entirely in an isolated space on your device. EMUI also limits the number of incorrect password input attempts to prevent your password from being cracked through brute force. Your lock screen password will also be used to encrypt and protect your personal data, effectively preventing unauthorized access to your storage data without a password verification. When you restart your device, or have not entered your password for three consecutive days, the system will not allow screen unlocking via biometric authentication, such as face and fingerprint unlocking, and a password must be entered to unlock the device.
Fingerprints are physiologically unique in each and every human being, and are mainly used for the purpose of identity verification and other important scenarios. You can use your fingerprint to verify your identity and unlock your device's screen. The entire process of fingerprint image entry and pre-processing, fingerprint feature extraction, fingerprint template generation, and fingerprint authentication are all conducted in a secure, isolated, and trusted environment. The fingerprint images will then be converted into feature templates, encrypted, and stored to a secure and isolated location that is not accessible by Android or any other apps. Your fingerprint data will maintain in the isolated zone and will not be stored to the cloud server or anywhere else outside of your device.
Face recognition is a biometric recognition technology that verifies a user's identity based on the user's scanned and recorded facial features. You can use your face to unlock your device or confirm payments. All critical functions and processes, such as facial image acquisition, feature extraction, feature comparison, and feature data storage are performed entirely in a secure and isolated trusted environment. The feature templates converted from your facial features are encrypted and saved in a high-security zone under a high-intensity encryption algorithm. Your facial identification data never leaves your device and is never uploaded to the cloud server or stored anywhere else outside of your device.
EMUI provides device authentication services for devices that are logged in to the same HUAWEI ID, allowing you to perform security authentication over the LAN for trusted devices under the same HUAWEI ID. You can also securely share hotspots and files between devices that are logged in to the same HUAWEI ID through Bluetooth and Wi-Fi P2P.
Devices that are logged in to the same HUAWEI ID use the trusted public key authentication protocol for authentication and authorization purposes, and to ensure the legitimacy of devices. All data transfers between these devices are encrypted using a key negotiated by both parties, helping to protect the security of your data.
To protect your privacy, we have provided you with a separate encrypted space that is completely isolated from your MainSpace – your own PrivateSpace. You can store your most important data in your PrivateSpace which cannot be accessed from your MainSpace. You can also conveniently transfer files (such as video, audio, and image files) between your PrivateSpace and MainSpace.
You can use a PrivateSpace password or fingerprint from the lock screen for quick and easy access. There is no other way to access your PrivateSpace, so you can rest assured that your data is safe and secure from unauthorized users.
PrivateSpace also provides a password reset function in case you forget your PrivateSpace password. After entering your PrivateSpace, go to Settings > Security & privacy > PrivateSpace > Password Protection and set a PrivateSpace password. If you forget your password, you can enter your MainSpace, go to Settings > Security & privacy > PrivateSpace and touch Reset password to reset your PrivateSpace password.
The Password vault allows you to save and automatically fill in app login and password information. App login and password information saved by the Password vault is only encrypted and stored on your device and will not be uploaded to the cloud.
You can use your HUAWEI ID to access all available Huawei services.
You can log in to your HUAWEI ID to access HUAWEI Cloud, HUAWEI AppGallery, HUAWEI Video, HUAWEI Music, and much more. We place great importance on the security of your HUAWEI ID. To prevent others from cracking your HUAWEI ID password, you're required to create strong and secure passwords that are at least eight characters in length without any spaces, and which contain at least two of the following: letters, numbers, and symbols. You can also increase the security of your password by adding more characters and punctuation marks with a maximum limit of up to 32 characters. If you believe that your HUAWEI ID password has been compromised, please change it immediately.
In order to better control your personal information, we have been launching new tools dedicated to data and privacy management in Huawei's account center. With these tools, you can request to modify your personal information, disable your HUAWEI ID, obtain a copy of your personal data, or delete your HUAWEI ID. At present, the tools have been used in more than 100 countries or regions around the world, and will be expanded to even more countries in the future.
Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of account protection and the best way to keep your HUAWEI ID secure.
With account protection, your HUAWEI ID can only be accessed from a trusted device. When you first log in to your HUAWEI ID on a new device, you will be required to enter both your password and a security verification code. Completing the verification means that you trust this device. For example, you already own a Huawei M2, and now you want to log in to your HUAWEI ID on your newly purchased Huawei P10. When you log in to your HUAWEI ID on your Huawei P10, you will see a prompt asking you to enter not just your password but also a security verification code that is automatically displayed on your Huawei M2. This authentication mechanism significantly enhances the security of your HUAWEI ID and account services (such as Cloud, AppGallery, Wallet, and GameCenter).
Some apps installed from HUAWEI AppGallery may require access to your Storage, Contacts, Location, Camera, and other permissions in order to function correctly. When you use an app for the first time, permission access requests and related instructions will pop up. After reading the instructions, you can choose whether to grant permissions or not. After you have granted access permissions to an app, you can cancel the permissions at any time by going to Settings.
Location service determines your location through GPS, Wi-Fi hotspots, base stations, and other resources. When you enable Location service, more accurate navigation guides and local weather information can be provided to you based on your location. Apps can only access your location data with your explicit consent. You can prevent an app from accessing your location data at any time.
When you enable Private mode, Browser will stop recording your browsing history, search history, cookies, online forms you fill in, and other information, in order to protect your privacy.
Digital balance provides you with app usage statistics, screen time and bed time management so that you can keep track of how long your phone was used and how many times it was unlocked every day, as well as set a time limit for using certain apps and restrict access to apps during the bed time you set. Your phone screen will turn gray or your access to apps will be restricted during the bed time, thus allowing you more time to hang out with your family, exercise, or rest. Your app usage statistics, phone unlock counts, and screen time management schedules are stored locally on your phone and will not be uploaded to any servers.
You can set screen time and bed time for your child, filter websites, and create a parental control password to prevent your child for changing the configurations or disabling Digital balance. You can also bind your child's phone to track his/her location. Before using the feature, we will ask you for permission to access the location, device information, and HUAWEI ID that is logged in on your child's device. After obtaining your permission, this data will be encrypted and sent to Huawei servers. You can choose to disable Screen time management at any time to stop the collection of the above data.
All data that you store on HUAWEI Cloud, such as photos, recordings, calendar, contacts, and reminders, are encrypted during transmission or when stored on our servers.
To protect your private information, Huawei uses end-to-end encryption technology and high-tech solutions that store your encryption keys and data separately to ensure multiple layers of security protection. When we use the storage services of carefully selected third-party vendors, we encrypt the stored data and will never disclose the decryption key to the vendor. We only store decryption keys in Huawei's own data centers to ensure that vendors can never access your data. By enabling or disabling the corresponding data options, you can control how your data is synced between your device and HUAWEI Cloud, and how it is backed up and deleted.
Leaving your personal data under your control is key to protecting your privacy. The online Privacy Tool provided by Huawei allows you to control your personal data linked with your HUAWEI ID, request a copy of your personal data, and modify and delete your account information with ease. With this tool, you can use a variety of Huawei mobile services while being in full control of your data.
The services and specific features of services vary by country and region. Please refer to the actual services and apps on your device.
