Noise cancellation performance does not work well on my HUAWEI FreeBuds/FreeLace series or WATCH Buds earphones

Perform the following to troubleshoot:

  1. ANC works well for low-frequency noises, such as the noise on airplanes, trains, and in offices (air conditioners), and isn't designed to reduce high-frequency noises, such as background voices, whose frequency range typically exceeds the ANC range. Therefore, background chatter can only be partially eliminated.
  2. Select a pair of ear tips that best fits your ears and adjust the position of the earphones to ensure a snug, comfortable fit.

The tighter the fit, the better the noise cancellation performance.

  3. Check whether the earphones' firmware is up to date.
  4. Use a clean and dry pointed cotton swab to gently remove any dirt from the mesh holes, and then use a soft cloth to clean the holes. It is recommended that you clean the earphones once a week.

  1. Select a proper noise cancellation mode. (A tone will play once the noise cancellation mode is set.)

    • Noise cancellation mode:
      • FreeBuds Pro 3/FreeBuds Pro 2/FreeBuds 5i/FreeBuds Pro/FreeBuds Studio/FreeLace Pro: Enable Ultra mode in the AI Life app when in a noisy environment, such as on the subway.
      • FreeBuds 5/FreeBuds 4/FreeBuds Lipstick/FreeBuds 3, or other open-fit ANC earphones: These open-fit earphones are designed for comfort and the noise cancellation may be inferior to in-ear earphones. You can try different noise cancellation modes in the AI Life app before selecting the best option.
      • WATCH Buds: You can enable or disable the noise cancellation feature in the Huawei Health app.
      • FreeBuds 4i/FreeBuds 3i/FlyPods 3 doesn't support noise cancellation modes, such as General, Cosy, and Ultra.
      • FreeBuds 5/FreeBuds 4/ doesn't support Ultra mode.

Make sure that the earphones' firmware is updated to its latest version. If the issue persists, take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
